Benefit of the Project

After successful completion of this Project, it will be possible to meet partial demand of stone in Bangladesh. By using Maddhapara Hardrock in the local construction works, our country could save the valuable foreign currency of about US $24.00 million per year.

The Project will make a significant contribution to improve environment and ecological balance by replacing Bricks in construction works. Presently Brick manufacturing not only causes damage to agricultural land but also causes deforestation due to indiscriminate use of fire wood in brick fields and other purposes. The Project will significantly reduce the production of Bricks for construction purposes and will help to check deforestation.

Maddhapara Granite Slab Project

Maddhapara Granite Slab Project has been initiated to produce high quality of Slab-Tiles.

The quality of hard rock of Maddhapara Mine is very high. The specifications of hard rock are mentioned below

Loss on ignition

1.58%

Sio2

56.64%

R2O2   (R = Fe, Al etc.,)

30.79%

CaO

7.46%

2.17%

SO3

0.46%

The compressive strength of the basement rock on test is found to be 24,000 pounds/sq. Inch.

Preliminary feasibility study to prepare high quality of Granite Slab Tiles are prepared by two foreign companies M/S NAMNAM of DPR of Korea and M/S Kopex S.A. of Poland. On the basis of to reports and recommendation of high powered delegation team of Bangladesh (Government a PCP has already been prepared to take up Madhapara Granite Slab Project in order to produce 200,000 sq. meter of Slab per annum.
