- To use
Bangladesh's natural gas resources for industrial and commercial
purposes, Titas GasTransmission and Distribution Company Limited(TGTDCL)
was established in 1964 with authorized and paid up capital of Tk.
17.8 million.( 1 US$ ~Tk.60.00, 1
Million = 10 Lakh). Since the commencement of the company, its
working sphere has been expanded steadily and currently it has become
the largest among the four existing gas distribution companies of the
country.
- Along the way
the company has laid and now operates 234.86 KM of transmission lines,
6529.21 KM of distribution lines and has given connections to 769,303
customer. The company is currently selling 6594 MMCM of gas annually
day to different categories of customers. Among the four gas
distribution companies the market share of business of TGTDCL is 70%
of which Power, Fertilizer, Industrial, Commercial, Domestic and
seasonal, are 51.34%, 20.10%, 17.46%, 1.10%, 9.85% and 0.15%
respectively.
- Since it's
beginning the company's business has grown substantially and has
gained maturity in high pressure gas pipeline laying, pipeline system
design, construction and maintenance of metering stations, hot
tapping, HDD, NDT and all other gas pipeline related matters. The
company has total of 2762 manpower among which 205 are foreign trained
graduate engineers, economists and accountants.
- The company
operates from its own office complex in Titas Gas Bhaban, Kawran Bazar
that is in the centrally located business district of Dhaka Metropolitan City.
The office floor space is over 11,000 square feet fully furnished with
all modern office supports and logistics. The office is equipped with
security system with modern digital telephone, SCADA, Fax as well as
electronic mail.
- With the
increased shape the authorized and paid up capital of the company has
increased to Tk. 2000 million and Tk. 1373.2 million respectively. The
company is relentlessly working to improve the old transmission and
distribution network to cope with the growing gas demand in every
urban and rural center of the company's Franchise Area.
- In future,
all the upazilla (sub-districts) townships in the Titas Franchise Area
will be connected with pipeline gas to accelerate industrialization,
as well as to meet urban growth in the country. This endeavor is very
much compatible with the national energy sector development plan.
