Bangladesh Petroleum Institute (BPI) is a training and research Institute in the public sector. Initially the institute was established in January, 1981 as a project under the aegis of Energy and Mineral Resources Division by the Government of Bangladesh. There after, BPI was setup as a statutory body vide Act no. 6 of 2004. The Institute caters for imparting training of professionals and Technicians engaged in Energy Sector. It also conduct the research work to enrich energy and mineral resources of the country. BPI is headed by Director General, who is a Joint Secretary to the Government.

•  Establish a national Information Bank and reference Centre regarding energy sector.
• Extend consultancy services to the Government organizations engaged in oil, gas and mineral resources sector.
